WHO WE ARE
Our history started with a vision.
The vision was to see the country of Haiti changed through the next generation. This would be done by raising up a new generation of young leaders who would assume their patriotic responsibilities while being capable of bringing changes in their respective communities.
This was the vision that drove two of our founding members to launch the organization.
The Beginnings
Pierre-Camy Destine grew up in Haiti during his early childhood. Unfortunately in January 12, 2010, at the age of 10, he was the victim of the catastrophic earthquake that caused a tragedy in Haiti. Due to the traumatic experience and extreme post-earthquake living conditions that began to arise, Pierre-Camy and his family moved to the U.S. His father, Saint- Pierre, stayed in Haiti to support those who were gravely affected by the disaster and to continue his ministerial and philanthropic work.
During his early years at university, Pierre-Camy started growing a deep desire to impact and liberate his country of Haiti.
Pierre-Camy graduated from Florida Atlantic University in May 2021 with a Bachelor in Economics and plans to now use his expertise and knowledge in that field to serve the country of Haiti and make a global impact.
Saint-Pierre Destine’s calling has always been to serve and impact his country of Haiti. With approximately 40 years in the ministry as general overseer and 20 years of experience working in NGOs, his life has been dedicated to helping those in the most dire situations.
He has always supported communities and families with whatever he had. Whether it was paying schooling for children , paying for medical visits, or holding food drives in communities, he felt that it was his duty as a servant of God to help in any way possible.
Despite not having any major financial backing or funding, he was able to plant 7 churches in Haiti and Brazil which are now pillars of hope and change in their communities.
In December of 2018, Pierre-Camy went back to Haiti for the first time since he left. However this was not a normal trip. This was going to be a mission trip that he wanted to serve the youth of the community he grew up in. In that small town, children suffer with hunger because parents have no means to provide for them as they live in extreme conditions.
The goal of the trip was to host a food drive for the children of the community and do a toy giveaway. His vision was to bring them a message of hope while making it a memorable holiday, reminding them that there is still hope in the world. With his dad still ministering in Haiti, he decided to partner with one of the churches in the community. With the help of his sister, Kafni, he was able to fundraise money for the trip.
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”
— Zechariah 4:10
First Board Meeting
After seeking God’s direction, they discussed with a close group of friends and colleagues on ways they could implement a new vision that would transform the lives of the next generation ; hence, Serve to Impact. The organization’s value is founded on the holistic words of Christ in which he declared that the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.
After a successful mission trip, they felt the necessity to have a deeper lasting impact on the future of the next generation. Although the trip was an act of benevolence, it wasn’t going to bring sustainability. Being young himself, it wasn’t a great feeling for Pierre-Camy to see that a lot of youth were not going to get an opportunity to succeed the way he did. Most of them end up in gangs, extreme poverty, or dead. But he knew that their fate was greater than that. He believed that each of them had a unique, God given potential that had to be developed; and that they held the keys to revolutionizing Haiti towards a better future.
